🚀Warehouse Sorting Device Management

1 min read

We are excited to introduce the new Sorting Device Management feature, designed to give you centralized control over tracking, assigning, and managing your physical sorting devices directly within the system.

This feature allows administrators to link specific sorting devices (identified by their IP addresses) to warehouse buckets, ensuring accurate tracking and streamlined operations.

Key Features:

✅ Granular Permissions: Control who can view, create, or edit sorting devices with three new role-based permissions.

✅ Device Assignment: Easily add new devices by specifying a name, IP address, and assigning them to an available warehouse bucket.

✅ Sorting Device Table: A new “Sorting Devices” section under Integrations provides a comprehensive table view of all registered devices.

✅ Editing and Reassigning: Modify a device’s name or reassign it to a different bucket as your operational needs change.

✅ Unlink Functionality: Quickly unlink a device from its current bucket to mark it as unassigned.

✅ Advanced Filtering: Easily find devices by name, IP, assigned bucket, or assignment status (Is Assigned: Yes/No).

How it Works:

  1. Setting Up Permissions (For Admins)

Before using the feature, an administrator must grant the necessary permissions to the relevant staff roles.

✅ Navigate to User Management -> Staff -> Roles.

✅ Select the desired role and click Manage.

✅ Go to the Integrations tab.

✅ You will find three new permissions under “Sorting”:

â—¾Sorting Device View: Allows the user to see the list of sorting devices.

â—¾Sorting Device Create: Allows the user to add a new sorting device.

â—¾Sorting Device Edit: Allows the user to edit or unlink an existing device.

✅ Check the appropriate permissions for the role and save.

  1. Managing Sorting Devices

Once permissions are granted, users can access the feature:

✅Navigate to the Integrations menu.

✅Click on the new Sorting Devices option.

✅You will see a table with the following columns:

â—¾Device Name: The custom name for the device.

â—¾Device IP: The unique IP address of the device.

â—¾Is Assigned: Shows Yes or No indicating if the device is currently linked to a bucket.

â—¾Bucket: The name of the bucket the device is assigned to.

â—¾Parent Bucket: The parent of the assigned bucket.

â—¾Updated By: The user who last modified or created the record.

â—¾Updated At: The timestamp of the last action.

  1. Adding, Editing, and Unlinking Devices

✅To Add a Device: Click the “Add Device” button, fill in the Device Name, IP Address, and select an available bucket from the dropdown.

Note: The dropdown list will only show buckets that are not currently assigned to another sorting device, preventing duplicate assignments.

✅To Edit a Device: Click the Edit device option. You can change the Device Name and reassign it to a different available bucket. The Device IP cannot be changed.

✅To Unlink a Device: Click the Unlink Device option. This will remove the association with its current bucket, and its “Is Assigned” status will change to No. The device can then be assigned to a new bucket later.
