🚀 New Feature Release: Billing City Override Setting

1 min read

We’re introducing a powerful new setting Billing City Override to give you more control over how your delivery charges are calculated.

🔒 Permission and Access

* This setting is now available for use.

* If you want to use this setting, let us know we will activate it for your tenant.

* However, we highly recommend it be used only by Super Admins.

* Why? Because it directly affects delivery rates.

🔘 Default Behavior (When the Setting is OFF)

* Delivery charges are calculated from the merchant’s origin city to the customer’s destination.

* Make sure your rate cards are created using the merchant’s origin city as the starting point.

✅ When the Setting is Turned ON

* You can select a preferred billing city (e.g., Kotte) from a dropdown.

* Once selected, all delivery charges will be calculated from that billing city to the customer’s destination — regardless of the merchant’s actual pickup location.

* Important: Your rate cards must now use the selected billing city as the origin.

* If this is not updated:

* Staff and merchants will not be able to place orders.

🔁 Switching the Setting ON, OFF, or Changing Cities

* If you change the setting or switch cities, a blinking icon will appear on the top bar.

* Click the icon to view a reminder of your current configuration.

🔵 When ON

> Note:

Billing City Override is ON. Rates will now be calculated from (selected billing city city) to the customer’s destination.
Ensure your rate cards are set with (selected billing city city) as the origin.

🔴 When OFF

> Note:

Billing City Override is OFF. Rates will now be calculated from merchant origin city to the customer’s destination.
Ensure your rate cards are set with your merchant origin city as the origin.

💡 Why Use This Setting?

* By default, the system uses the merchant’s actual city to calculate delivery rates.

* Some courier services use a standard billing city to charge consistent rates.

* Previously, you had to manually match the customer’s city with your preferred billing city to make this work.

* Now, with this setting turned ON and Preferred billing city selected, you can:

* Let customers use their real city.

* Still charge them from your selected billing city.

* This is especially useful for upcoming features like future pickup process enhancements.

⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind

Because this setting directly influences your delivery charges, please do not enable, disable, or change cities without proper planning.

Before making any changes:

* ✅ Discuss internally with your team.

* ✅ Notify our team in advance.

* ✅ Make sure all current orders are completed (in final status).

* ✅ Set up and assign the correct rate cards for the selected billing city.
